Meet Your Fishing Guide - Capt. Will Geraghty

Capt. Will Geraghty holding a permit caught off a local wreck.Greetings, I am Captain Will Geraghty, a full-time light tackle-fishing guide, professional tournament angler and freelance writer living in Naples, Florida. Angling, adventure, the outdoors and writing are my passions. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have made a full-time profession from something I truly enjoy. Naples is a city that provides all this and more!

Beginnings in fishing

As a lifelong resident of Southwest Florida, I have been “hooked” on fishing from the moment I could handle my own rod and reel. Plying Florida’s coastal waters and inland freshwater lakes as a youth with my family provided me with fond memories as well as a solid base of angling fundamentals, sportsmanship and conservation values.

Throughout the last sixteen years, I have had the pleasure of guiding thousands of satisfied clients from around the world to memorable light tackle catches! Employing the finest tackle and proven techniques, I will passionately guide you on your search for hard charging inshore and offshore gamefish. It is paramount to me, that your day on the water is an experienced filled with fun, excitement and catching success rather than just another guided trip!

Active member of Florida's fishing community

Here's Capt. Will doing a seminar on grouper fishing. While not on the water guiding clients, I keep active in the southwest Florida community supporting and volunteering with several environmental initiatives, charity-fishing events and proudly serve on the Collier County Florida Sea Grant Advisory Board.

Guiding more than 300 trips per year, extensive travel and angling competition has also fueled many of my outdoor writing projects. My bylines can be found in several print/Internet media publications to include: The Naples Sun Times, Naples News, Gulf Coast Times, Your Marine Connection, SKA Angler Magazine, Florida Sportfishing Magazine, Florida Sportsman Magazine, Kingfishconnection.com and Championangler.com.

Filming for television is always a highlight for a full-time fishing guide! Through out my guiding career I have chased cobia and kingfish on the Atlantic with Jim Baugh’s Suzuki Outdoors, stalked big snook in the Ten Thousand Islands with the legendary Allan Warren Outdoors and bested the mighty permit on more than one episode of Tales of the Everglades Angler/Captain’s Tales fame. All unique shows in their own right…. exciting light tackle action etched on film forever!

Success in tournament fishing

Capt. Will and teammate with 2009 Southern Kingfish Association Yamaha Pro Tour 'Angler of the Year' Title.Capping off what was more than a decade of successful offshore tournament competition, my teammates and me captured the coveted 2009 Southern Kingfish Association Yamaha Pro Tour “Angler of the Year” Title. Come Fish With A Champion!

An I.G.F.A Certified Guide and member in good standing with The Florida Guides Association, National Association of Charter Boat Operators (NACO), Southern Kingfish Association (SKA) and Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) allows me to stay involved and current within the sportfishing/charter industry.

Light Winds and Good Tides Anglers!
