Naples Florida Sizzling Summer Action Blog Entry Date: August 14, 2019 Despite erratic weather the August 2019 bites have been outstanding both shallow and deep. Early departures have been beneficial in order to beat the heat and capitalize on the morning activity. Naples Florida Barracuda! The nearshore fish haven are providing excellent catches of Spanish mackerel, sharks and ravenous barracuda. Live bait, jigs and casting spoons have been the best baits and methods. Naples Florida Snook! Inshore, species such as snook, redfish, mangrove snapper and jack crevalle are keeping the lines tight. We have been concentrating our efforts within the middle bays, passes and out on the beaches when the conditions have allowed. Naples Bay Pompano! When the tides and water clarity have aligned, I have been treating my anglers to great catches of pompano. Small tube jigs tipped with a fresh piece of shrimp and worked slowly over the substrate has been effective. Pompano are best broiled, baked or grilled. Naples Florida Permit! Several wrecks in the intermediate and full-day range are holding small schools of permit. An incredible Gulf gamefish, permit are being fooled with live crabs, jumbo shrimp and ducktail jigs.
