Tackle Technology
When you arrive at Port O Call Marina for your light tackle adventure, you will find only quality first-class light tackle rigged and at the ready aboard The Grand Slam.
I exclusively employ Penn Spinning and Bait Casting reels matched to Penn and Star Rods. Each Penn reel is filled to capacity with today’s most advanced monofilament and braided fishing lines available. An array of fluorocarbon leader materials, compliment the business end of each outfit providing superior stealth characteristics and high abrasion resistance.
Line classes we routinely use here in the Ten Thousand Islands region range from 8 to 40 lbs. dependent upon the species we are targeting. Remember, there is nothing like battling big gamefish on light tackle!
For anglers wishing to fly fish, I offer top of the line G.Loomis and Temple Fork (TFO) rods outfitted with Bauer and Tibor Reels ranging from 8 to 12-weight. All reels are packed with ample backing topped with situation specific Rio and Scientific Angler fly lines.
Owner Hooks, DOA and Rip Tide soft plastic lures, Clark Spoons and Luhr Jensen Cripple Herring jigs contribute a critical role to our catching success aboard The Grand Slam. For bait, we either catch our own or use a great little local store at the marina - Captain Pete's Bait & Tackle.
Anglers, I will always encourage you to bring your favorite rod/reel outfits. However, please consult with me prior to your guided trip so I can assist you with selecting the proper size, weight and quality for the day’s trip.
